Local Area Information
There is enough to do at Paradise Hollow to spend every minute of your vacation at the resort, but the surrounding area holds plenty of things to do and see that you probably won’t want to miss.
Sleeping Bear
Some of the area’s greatest natural treasures are protected within Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. In 2011, Good Morning America named the dunes the most beautiful place in America. Race up the Dune Climb to see for yourself. The National Lakeshore also hosts some spectacular hiking trails. National Geographic needed an extra-large, fold-out cover when they put the iconic view atop the Empire Bluff hiking trail on the December 2020 cover. If hiking isn’t for you, try biking the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail or driving the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive.
On the Town
If you are out by the Dune Climb, you might want to stop in nearby Glen Arbor. It’s a popular place to shop, eat, and stock up on cherry goodies. Other little towns with shopping and restaurants include Frankfort, Leland’s Fishtown, Suttons Bay, and Northport. And don’t forget Traverse City.
Close to Home
You don’t need to travel far from Paradise Hollow to find a trail to hike or a bite to eat. Lake Ann, after all, hosts the Stone Oven and its own brewery. Pizza is just across the lake from our little red cottages. There are also some good hiking trails nearby, including Ransom Lake Natural Area, the Lake Ann Pathway, and Lower Woodcock Nature Preserve.
For more trails, check out the Leelanau Conservancy and the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy. Don’t forget that rivers make good trails as well. The Platte, Betsie, and Chrystal rivers are good for a peaceful float or a fun paddle.
Biking
Do you enjoy biking? Whether you are a road biker, a mountain biker, two track rider, or just a leisure biker, the Lake Ann, Sleeping Bear, Traverse City and all the surrounding areas have excellent biking trails in which you can enjoy the beauty of the area.
